How to access foreign students (outside the European Union)

Foreign applicants who are nationals of a country other than the European Union member countries or pre-accession candidates, or members of the European Economic Area, must submit a prior application file before February 1st preceding registration, whether they live in France or abroad.

Foreign applicants holding a French baccalaureate or equivalent obtained in one of the European Union countries, the diploma of access to university studies in France or a diploma of French higher education are exempted from this request and can file a file in the schools of their choice, respecting the deadlines specific to each school.

The fee reform for foreign students is not applicable to architectural studies. Registration fees for the 2019 school year will be approximately the same as in 2018.

Applicants must demonstrate a level of understanding of the French language appropriate to the intended training level. This level is verified by means of a knowledge test of the French language. The level required for admission to the master's degree program in Nancy and level B2 of the CEFR.

In order to access the master cycle leading to the State Architect Diploma, candidates must hold a diploma or prepare a diploma of BAC + 5 minimum (equivalent to 5 years of studies after high school). Their studies, professional experiences or personal achievements can be validated.

Applicants residing in France may withdraw an application for registration in architecture schools, as of December of the year preceding the planned return. Completed forms must be submitted to the architectural school closest to the home.

Candidates residing abroad must submit their application to the cultural service of the French Embassy in the country where they reside. Some countries have a dedicated website (http://www.campusfrance.org).

Applications are forwarded to the school designated as first choice by the embassy or deposit institution. When the application for admission is refused by the first school, it is sent to the second school, unless the file is not admissible or if the level of French is insufficient.

You can download the note to applicants of foreign nationality residing in France or abroad and applying for a first registration in a French School of Architecture, from mid-December to mid-January. Candidates residing in France can also download the pre-registration form.
