Architectural studies respect the framework of European harmonization of higher education curricula. They are organized in three cycles on the basis of the LMD scheme (license, master, doctorate/Ph.D).

In Nancy, the first three-year course of study leads only to a diploma of studies in architecture conferring the degree of license (Diplôme d'Etat En Architecture - DEEA).

The purpose of these three years is to acquire the foundations of architectural culture, design processes, understanding and practice of the project.

The holders of the degree in architecture studies are intended to be employed by architectural, urban planning, interior design or design agencies, engineering and design offices, building and construction companies, public authorities, development companies.

The obtaining of the diploma or its equivalent on European level is a necessary condition for the continuation of architectural studies in the master degree.

After obtaining 120 European credits for the first four semesters, the student may, if necessary, move towards other higher education courses, such as professional licenses, in accordance with specific conditions of access to these formations.
